| For what it's worth, I took guitar lessons from Tee Sapoff in the 60s at his home in Howard Beach. Tee If you are out there, hope you are well. I've got a CD coming coming out next month with my band.So those lessons added up to something.

| Hey Tee,
Nope, you were never my guitar teacher, yet I still learned quite a bit from you. The Tee & Cara Album, "As They Are", while never going GOLD, to my knowledge, is an album LOVED by people today who may have missed it back then (as many great albums were)... loved today particularly by musicians and song-writers. There's a reason that when there's a copy up at GEMM, that the sellers always ask from $80.00 to $100. for that album... as it will sell at that price.
I've completely worn out three copies and actually, I have to start looking for my 4th! When the person who started this discussion asked about the album,. you responded, "Are You Serious?" I saw that response a long time ago, and wondered to myself, if it could be that you do not realize how very wonderful that album is, start to finish and how very well-loved it is.
Tee, I'm so glad to be able to address this to you, in the hopes that you will come to this board again... to tell you that, that album was THE album that I could listen to, to chill, to relax, to have my hope restored at a time, hmm maybe 30 years ago when I was in a bad way. It did my head a LOT of good. To be able to thank you for the great writing, the great music, the great performances on that album, including the vocals... well it's a pleasure to be able to.
So you guys were young. But, that's a beautiful album any way you look at it, with nothing at all about that album to be anything but extremely proud about. I know you must be.
Keep an eye out on Myspace for a Tee & Cara Tribute page. When you see the sort of friends' comments which I know will come, my above statements will be proven correct.
God Bless You (And Cara)
Hang In There,
Joe

| Hi Tee, I hope you get to see this message as I have great news for you. (Hi also to fellow fans of T&C - I guess this is a bit of a public way of getting a private message to someone!)
I'm writing from England and I produce cd reissues for a leading independent UK label who have just got licence approval from EMI/Capitol to reissue 'As They Are'. It is something I have wanted to do ever since I discovered the album (via a friend) a few years ago. The songs are exquisite and desrve to be heard by as many folk as possible.
Our intention always is to produce as good a product as possible - in terms of artwork, sleevenotes and remastering to the highest quality.
We did Chrysalis's album Definitions a couple of years ago. Did you know them? They were around in NYC at about the same time as you two. We have also released the likes of Fred Neil, Bonnie Dobson, 5th Dimension, Association etc.
Are you still in touch with Cara Beckenstein?
I'm very excited about the project which will be a labour of love for me, and hope that you (and Cara) will be equally enthused.
We'd be delighted if you wanted to say a few words for the cd booklet or wanted to get involved in any way. (Spider Barbour was a very enthusiastic collaborator on the Chrysalis reissue).
Anyway, I hope you're in good health and good spirits Tee (Steve) and I look forward to hearing from you here & maybe we can swap email details?
All the very best, Vic |

| This is a response to Joe Foster and Vic Templar. Tee and I haven't spoken about this matter, so I speak only for myself here. As the other half of Tee & Cara, I'm amazed and appalled that you could imagine I'd be thrilled to have you rerelease our album without discussing financial compensation with us beforehand. Why, oh why do non-musicians think musicians should work for free? If people still enjoy our album after 40 years, that's quite lovely. But don't ask me for my blessings and enthusiasm until you give us the respect that we deserve in the form of royalties. I didn't want to post anything on this site, but I sent an email to www.revola.co.uk requesting a response, and so far have heard nothing. As I said in my email to them, it's not about the money because, after all, how many Tee & Cara fans are there in the world? It's the respect and the principle of the thing I'm talking about. Love our music? Pay us. I've contacted my attorney to see what leverage we have, if any. In the meantime, I'd still appreciate a response that does not pander, cajole, presume and gush, but that explains exactly what the terms are going to be. You mention some really big names here (the 5th Dimension, the Association). Are you ripping them off as well? Now, maybe I've misunderstood, and you were planning all along to track us down and work out a deal with us. If so, I apologize in advance for my tone. I suppose I should give you guys the benefit of the doubt before my cynicism is vindicated once again.

| I have to say this. I had never heard of Tee and Cara until I was driving to work the other day and the DJ played a cover of 'Hard Days Night' and I was utterly mesmerised and fell in love there and then! I'm someone who likes music but don't love it like some but I loved that and no mistake. I will be looking out for more. Thank you. x |

| Tee - wow... Just ended up here at this page rummaging through facebook for people I once knew. You got me started writing songs at Hartt. Didn't know songs were written - just listened to them - thought they must have materialized out of thin air or something. We started a thing together way back when... never finished it... But that got me started. Have had a fairly successful career of it on staff with Warner-Chappel and covers with many artists. And now live in MA with my husband - we write and perform together in New England and compose for indie films and all sorts of things. Our website is www.toohumanonline.com.
And how are you? Do you still play? I think I may have that album somewhere. I'll have to look for it. It's been a very long time... Didn't you have a cool two tone volvo 122s? Remember Dauntless Lane? Was just looking for it with Barbara Ackerman - it appears they changed the name of the street.
Well I could go on... Would love to hear from you and catch up.
best,
Ellen

Hey Cara--- remember the Boy Scout meeting I took you to when we both lived in Forest Park. I sincerely doubt it.
Nevertheless, I'd heard many years later you were writing music as Tee & Cara. will try to locate your album(s) on line.
Also, would love to see you perform.
Got any gigs going? WILL PAY!!! /bh |
